boot problems with GA-8INXP
I finally realized that I'm in way over my head, please help!!!!!
My mobo won't boot and the RAM LED light won't go off. It also won't stop beeping unless I unplug the speaker. I've verified that the RAM in installed correctly and is good, so I'm really confused. Here's my setup: P4 2.something Antec 350W PSU Nvidia Ge Force FX 8X AGP 2 sticks of corsair 2700 256mb installed in ddr1 and ddr2 3 maxtor 80gb HDD DVD drive CD-rw drive 3.5 floppy drive Lots of fans, etc. With the monitor plugged in, I can see a system scan occurring, but it stalls out and gives me odd messages. I can't get to the post screen, and it's not recognizing any usb or serial device - ie: my keyboard. Any thoughts??? |

Have you the boot order correct?, are you using a RAID setup?...are you using the Sil controller? |

I'm finding lately that I'm often having to bump the RAM voltage up a
notch or two to get machines to POST reliably. This is with all new parts and no overclock. Sounds like a memory issue...try another brand of RAM. Have you the boot
order correct?, are you using a RAID setup?...are you using the Sil controller? I know that this RAm works with this mobo - I bought both off of a friend who used them together with no problems. Nevertheless, do you have a suggestion for another brand of RAM? (I've heard this mobo is picky). By boot order, I'm assuming you mean with the cables because I can't edit anything in the bios at this point. (I have 2 of the HD's on IDE1, a DVD and a CD-RW on IDE2 and the last HD on IDE3). It was my understanding from what I've read that I don't necessarily need to use the RAID controller, but I was considering getting at least an ATA controller (which might be less confusing for me) if neccessary. I'm not sure what you mean by the Sil controller. |
