Overheating eh? Well Im hoping that since the new 3ghz proc is the new
Mobile p4, it will run slightly cooler than the desktop p4's they were
using in the 5100's. (crosses fingers and plans to test thoroughly
before 30 day guarantee is up). i also went ahead and got the 64mb m9.

thanks!

I just ordered the 5150 for a buddy with 512, 64mg ati. hope he likes
it. It looks like a tank at 7,5 pnds but he dont care. Using mostly as
a desktop with external monitor. I Didnt like the fact it doesnt have
the full size port replicator or DVI output but it will clean house on
his P3 500 :P Post your thoughts on the LP when you get a chance.
It think it said the ati9000 32mg version was 64bit opposed to the
64mg @ 128bit.

yeah the 64mb card is 128bit and a LOT faster than the 32. I've owned
3 laptops prior to this including a brand new thinkpad r40 (which was
dog slow and just got returned). Ive never used the port replicator
because I loath sitting in front of a desk. I dont need infrared and
dont care about DVI, I just wanted an all-in-one solution. Its also
cool that you can change the video card later once dell releases a
radeon 9600 for that series (which im sure they will). The 5100s got
great reviews all around, so hopefully we made the right decision with
the 5150 People keep commenting on how theyre going to buy an 8500
instead...well if i had an extra $500 or more to spend on top of the
$1500 I paid for this, then yeah obviously..

I have a 5150 on order as well with the 64mb ATI Raedon 9000. Now
I'm reading the reports on the Mobility Raedon 9600. Where did you
learn you will be able to upgrade the graphics card on the 5150 later?
I would really like a notebook with the 9600 and Im trying to
determine if I should cancel my order for the 5150 and wait, or plan
on upgrading when the card is released. Does anyone know if the 9600
upgrade will be the card itself or an additional PCMCIA card?
Thanks
Jeff
