Try a different brand of media, and/or burn at a slower speed.
The main discs are 48x branded Samsungs I have tried another brand and it made no difference. Writing at 32x makes no difference. If I simulate at 40x I can do the same time and again with no error messages - it just works. And report specifically what error message you get. There is no error message. Nero Express, for example, just sits there - maybe forever. If I break out of NE then the the writer sits there with the red light on and will not respond to an eject press. The machine is also clearly screwed up by this as XP will not shutdown and a reset is needed to get out of it. Mike -- http://www.mrichter.com/ |

Mike -- http://www.mrichter.com/ I've just done yet another brand at it's max speed (32x) and I've also done one of these Samsungs at 16x. Are branded Samsungs usually like this ? These are supposed to be 48x !! I guess that it looks like the writer is 100% now ?? Thanks |

With one brand of CD's burning stuck at 4% (it seemed that lead-in was burning forever.) If i left it for a long time, reset machine and eject CD, i could se that whole CDR was burned (with lead-in, i guess...). So, keep away from this type of CD's. (While thee same CDR's was perfect at my friend's Plex 8x...) |

(While thee same CDR's was perfect at my friend's Plex 8x...) This does not necessarily mean that any of the discs is "good" or "bad" in itself; only that it is ill-matched to your drive and speed. The Plexwriter is a bad test since it will write darn near anything you feed it, though sometimes do so well only at select speeds. Note that it is likely that the disc manufacturer can show that at least some of the time, the disc can more or less be written on some drive at rated speed - though undoubtedly not to spec. But the marking on the package does not signify how best you can use the disc or whether you can use it at all in your drive. ole -- http://www.mrichter.com/ |

Now i have plex premium and so far i didn't run into "bad" CDR. But many of them are burned at lower speed than rated, especially no-name or not famous brands. That bad CDR's were from MMORE. I guess Liteon just didn't like them... |
