Default Q: Compaq Proliant 850r

hi there,

i have an prolaint 850r with one ppro200 with 256kb cache installed;
can i run a ppro200 with 1mb cache in this machine?
the machine boots with the new cpu, but shows also only 256kb cache;

You can run 2/4/8 cpus with mixmatched caches BUT all cpus will only
utilize as much cache as the smallest cpu has. Just like you described.

This rule should be valid with whole x86 family to date. Not all
"stepping codes" are compatable tho (you can always check intels site)


If I had your system I would watch ebay for pentium 2 overdrives.
