Default monitor resolution

HI,
OK, I've had probs with freezing etc that I've solved. But I've just noticed
that I cannot get past 1024 x 768 monitor res. I know that my monitor can go
higher (though I have no reason to) but am just annoyed that I can't.

card MSI FX5600 TVDR 128

Anyone else with sim probs?

Eddie

Have you installed the correct inf file for you monitor? If not then Windows
is just using the default monitor definition which only supports up to
1024x768 as most old monitors won't go above this. For instance, with my
GF4Ti4200 and default monitor I can get to 1024x768, with the correct
Fujitsu monitor file to match mine I can run at up to 2048x1536 (although
the text is too tiny on a 19" monitor at this res!), although I tend to
stick to 1280x960.

2048X1536??? Did you get a magnifying glass with the monitor to use that
resolution?!?!?!? I'll bet the text looks almost like dots!

Not far off. I was messing with my settings and moved it all the way up to
that res just to test it. And at 60Hz refresh it's not nice to look at - I
much prefer 1280x960@85Hz
