Smartpower 400W and later an Enermax Liberty 620W. Neither has -5V. You

Are you pleased with the Enermax?

I look at buying the Liberty 500 as it has 22A 12V lines, nice to have
for future new rig. The alternative is the Seasonic S12-500S, but that
only has 17A and 16A on the 12V lines (why so much lower than the
Liberty, or is it that the Seasonic can add up 17A+16A to total 33A,
while the Liberty had a max combined of 32A (not 22A+22A), or....)?

Quite pleased with its performance. I run two X1900XTs in Crossfire which,
up until the release of the 8800GTX, was the most power-hungry consumer
video card setup available (more so than 7950GX2 quad-SLI). I also have two
optical drives and two hard drives. The Enermax Liberty 620 handles the load
with no problem. It's quieter than the Antec 400W it replaced.

On the Enermax, both modular PCIe connectors are the same rail. I suspect
the Seasonic is also built this way. Therefore a higher per-rail current
capacity is desirable. Seasonic makes good PSUs, and manufactures them for
other companies like Corsair.

Given a choice now, I suggest getting the Corsair CMPSU-520HX if it's
available in your country. The modular cables are much more flexible for
easier routing. And even though it is advertised as having three 12V rails
each capable of 18A, those are in fact a single rail internally, and you can
draw 40A from any rail without issue.
