Replacing a faulty Ti4200
We have a 64MB TI4200 (thats with an Athlon XP 2000+ and 768MB RAM) and when
games run for a few minutes the screen goes black. In the past, dusting it out and putting on some new heatsink compound fixed the problem but this time it doesn't make a difference. Are all these cheaper cards better than the existing card ? http://www.dcs-online.biz/shop/defau...page/1/sort/6a I'd be buying the replacement from these people and the less spent the better to get the same performance. Thanks |

If they have any bulge at all to the top, or anything leaking out the bottom, they are bad. |

I wouldn't go below (slower than) the Sparkle GeForce 6200. The Ti4200 card was a very good card in its day. TMC |

the 4200 is about equal to the newer 5600.
The 4200 was a good card but for an upgrade the 7600gs agp would be the way to go. OR the ati 1600 or 1650. These cards will give you gamming capability. You may consider an upgrade to your cpu as well. If you just want a card for the internet and desktop work the 5200 will give you good basic graphics. "Kev" wrote in message ...
