The source is a DirecTV receiver hooked up via composite. Also
tried
S-video, and coax.

The video plays about 2 seconds worth, then just keeps repeating
that
small loops. The audio is fine. Changing the channel on the
receiver can
be heard via audio as expected, but the video remains stuck in that
2
second loop. Even when I turn off the receiver.

I installed, reinstalled, drivers, new drivers, old drivers, etc.
Some
changes rendered NO video, but the most is works is as above.

Any ideas? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

What kind of computer is it in? What is the video card? How much
memory?

you know the drill.

It's a Dell Inspiron Laptop 9300 (no, the battery has yet to explode)
Win XP SP2
Pent M 1.6
NVideo Geforce GO 6800 256 meg
2 Gig System Memory
Latest drivers and MMC software, Direct X, OS Updates, etc.

Thanks!

Check the manual for the Dell and make sure the TV Wonder is plugged
into a USB 2 port.
Some of Dell's laptops have only one USB 2 port, the others are 1.1
which would explain the repeating video which requires USB 2.

According to the manual, all 6 USB ports are 2.0 compliant. Thanks
anyway!

There is not a single Dell laptop with mixed USB2 and USB1 ports. ALL Dell
laptops that have USB2 have all USB2.

The Inspiron 5150 came with 1 USB 2 and 1 USB 1.1 port on the back.

The original TV Wonder USB (the one in the translucent Ruby Red case) was
only a USB 1.x device, not USB 2.0. If he has the newer one, then "TV
Wonder USB" isn't the correct complete name. And it matters a lot, as the
software for the two is totally different.

It's a TV wonder USB 2.0 to clarify. Besides, if it were the old one, then
port version really shouldn't matter!

I've read - but don't know how accurate this is - that some systems have
only 1 high-speed usb controller, which the OS assigns to the port. It kinda
was saying that only one port at a time could operate in high speed. That
doesn't make much sense to me, but maybe there's something to it.

Anyway, I tried the tuner with every other device unplugged and that didn't
help. Heard back from ATI support, had to run a problem check utility and
send them the report. Awaiting response.
