Default Ti400 - is this a good buy?

Hi,
Is £45 UKP (incl P&P) a good price for a Gainward Ti4200 PowerPack Ultra/650
XP
"Golden Sample"? I have heard these are good cards & I am looking for
something cheap for a 2nd machine. This is the 128mb version, I had heard
the 64mb version is quicker is this correct?

TIA
Mark

The 64Mb version was ever so slightly quicker, but everyone pretty
much agreed it was actually better to have the extra RAM. In any case,
the golden sample will overclock to a band playing.

IMHO it's a good deal. No dx9, but I think this may be getting
overplayed just a tad...

got one, I like it, just don't install the new 5303 drivers. Can give you
problems with gamming.
Stay with the 4308 or the 45++ series.

Not everyone agreed. The extra memory only kicks in if you play in
VERY HIGH RES - such as 1600x1200... or high details; when the game
requires THAT much details in the game, the GPU of the Ti4200 is over
taxed.

So... the extra memory, which is noticably slower - never helps.
Still, take the 128mb version over a 5600 or slower.

Look at how the 128mb version compared to the 64mb version.

Even today, 256mb video cards offer no realworld improvements... or in
some cases - slower. Like some people pay the same price for a
5600-256 rather than the 5600-Ultra128.... and get a MUCH slower card.
