Default Graphics corrupt when PC switched on from cold

Hi all,
I have an AOPEN FX5900 with original firmware. Over the last few days, I've
had a problem when turning on the PC for the first time for the day ie. the
PC is cold.
As soon as I turn on the monitor (LCD CTX Flatscreen) displays pure garbage
immediately. I can't see the graphics card BIOS screen or motherboard BIOS
screen. When Windows XP starts to load the corruption changes and you can
make out familiar parts of the screen until eventually Windows has loaded
but the displayis still corrupt with different colour garbage.

I have found that if I turn the PC on and off several times the problem
dissapears and all is well until next time I switch on for the first time.
Its as if the card is corrupt when cold but okay when its warmed up a bit!

I had the exact same problem years ago with a Creative Geforce2 GTS on a
completely diffferent PC and monitor!

Anyone else seen this or know how to fix it?

Well I decided to RMA the Aopen FX5900 back to Dabs. I took some photo's of
the effect which you can find here if you are interested...

Turned out not to be the graphics card or I'm not sure.
When I replaced it with another one, the problem was still there.
I checked my ram was seated properly and tried one stick at a time.
I tried removing all PCI Cards and DVD-RW drive but still the problem
resides.
Could it be the Antec Tru-power PSU or perhaps the motherboard?

I had something similar just yesterday. Locking down AGP to 2x in BIOS fixed
it. It should not be a problem, the motherboard does either 2x or 4x
(according to specs) so something is not right but I am happy with the
results. Check out my report about my FX5900XT in my old motherboard.

What board do you have? Later it occured to me that I may benefit from some
recent VIA drivers, I never installed those after some bad experiences with
them years ago, I just use the out-of-the-box drivers the come with Windows
XP (I think the chipset is KT133A). So that may also be worth a try.

Martin.
