Default ATI Radeon 9500pro 128Mo random reset to 640*480 4 bits bug ??? ...

Hello everyone,

Very randomly, my computer hangs under Windows XP sp1, keyboard and mouse
unusable, but processes and downloads still running. After 2 minutes, the
screen goes black, then an Error Message appears: "Windows has repaired a
faulty device", and the screen is set to 640*480 4bits. I have to reboot my
computer to get back to normal 1024*768 32bits, except I have to change
manually the refresh rate from 60 to 85 hertz.

Anyone experiences the same problem? Any advice to sove or prevent this?

Thanx in advance.

M.

My system is as follows:

Default

I had the same problem two weeks ago...

I took the card out of my system, cleaned it and put it back in. Then a
fresh driver install and all the problems were gone. Good luck,

Arch
