Default how to roll back an XP service patch 2 install question

Hi,
I read this in today's philadelphia inquirer, and was wondering if it really
works.
Comments appreciated.

Question: I'm giong to download Windows XP's Service Pack 2, but I
established a Restore Point first. If I do need to roll back to that date,
how do I do so?

Answer: Got to Start/Programs/Accesories/System Tools. There, choose
System Restore. However, do not be surprised if System Restore refueses to
accommodate your wishes. System Resore, for any number of reasons, may not
have been able to set the restore point.
An alternative way to get back to your previous Windows configuaration is
to go to Start/Run and type appwiz.cpl in the Open box. Click on the Show
Updates box, Select Windows SP Servcei Pack 2, and click on Remove.

appwiz is ADD/REMOVE programs so I guess this is an alternative.
some/most updates appear here, not sure they ALL do.
