HDD damaged

Hi everybody
I've got a hard drive, accidentally damaged by power failure. The HDD
is a Maxtor 4D040H2 and I wonder if I could recover information from
the disk replacing the card at the bottom of the disk with another
from a second (same model) disk. I wonder if it woulb be so simple and
if that procedure is or not destructive.

You should be able to(Hilight: SHOULD be able to), if all the model,
firmware, and product numbers matched up, its as easy as
unscrewing/unplugging the old one and putting new one on.

unscrewing/unplugging the old one and putting new one on.

Hi Rub, Power failure doesn't usually damage a drive. Slave that drive
to a working machine's HD and see if you can read it. If so, put it
back in the original machine and go to DOS and type from A: "SYS C:"
and see if it boots.
