Direct draw support / Geforce 6600

Hi,

WHen I upgraded my pc recently, I also upgraded my GFX card from a
geforce 3ti200 to a geforce 6600.

However - I'm finding that a lot of "old" (ie 2 or 3 years) games /
demos will not run on the new card - producing errors like "unable to
load texture", "Can't initialise direct draw" etc..

I am using a multiboot system with win98se, winme and winxp - have
tried various versions of direct x, and a couple of versions of the
nvidia drivers - (77.72 and the one supplied with the PNY geforce card)
- have also tried dxeradicator and driver cleaner to remove all traces
of direct x and the nvidia drivers, before a fresh install of the mobos
agp drivers and dx /nvidia drivers, still get the same error message

SO - I decided to install my geforce 3 ti200 - all bar one of the demos
worked fine..

Any ideas what I can do?

With this many "is missing" reports, I'd recommend reinstalling DirectX.

Before would most likely be better.

Tried it afterwards, and ended up with a totally unstable system -
could barely load windows explorer windows without hanging! thank god
for dx eradicator!! (anyone know if that works with DX 9?)(
