Help for the digitally challenged..PLZ?
Being an old geezer, I'm not fluent in computer language, but I would like
some help, or suggestions. Here's the setup (antique, by most standards) AMD Duron 800 mhz Windows 98SE Lite-On LTR-12101B cd burner Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4 standard edition (came with the burner) purchased in 2001 Direct CD The problem I'm having is that I can read music cd perfectly, play back just fine in WMP9. I can burn music cds just fine, play back on all capable cd players. The problem is, when I try to make a data cd, (MP3s, jpegs, whatever), when I try to access the data cd after shutdown, they all come up as being unrecognizable data, wont open, wont read. Scan disk says one of two things, This is not a Direct CD disc and will not continue, or it trys to fix the CD, with no results. I'm using TDK discs (music/data), and this problem has just surfaced. I now have 3 useless discs. Web Updates from Roxio show no updates available. Old data discs (both open and closed) will open just fine. Ad-Aware shows no data miner cookies are interferring. Norton says no viruses. Is it the discs? All three useless discs are from a fresh packs of discs. (High probability, IMO) Is it the writer failing? I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the software. Never had a problem with TDK discs before. Any thoughts, suggestions? TIA Peace Deke (newbie to the group) |

"smh" wrote in message ... Easy CD Creator 4.x. Software Updates (DirectCD updates at bottom - you may not want this 3.05 update as some reported major problems. If you have DirectCD 2.5d, don't update to 3.x.) http://www.roxio.com/en/support/ecdc...pdatesv4.jhtml Problem is, I have no idea what software version I have for DirectCD. Its not in properties, all I could find is that I have firmeware revision LS39. It was purchased in 2001, if thats any help. Anyway, its working perfectly now using Memorex discs, so it had to be the TDK discs. Thanks very much to everyone for all the replies. I very much appreciate it. Peace Deke |
