radeon 9000 vs x300

Only the X300SE Hypermemory unit will run Aero (but not too well) Better for VIVO? The X300SE has no VIVO features There are no modern ( I know they made one or two atrocities during the transition era) motherboards around that can take both a PCIe card or an AGP one. Neither is a good gaming card for anything. The X300SE Hypermemory 128 card is a bottom feeder card, non-VIVO, 325Mhz DX9.0 core but with 64bit memory (some have 32Meb onboard, some 64Mb)and sharing system RAM to make up to 128Mb max. Low bandwidth...3.2 Gb/s. The Radeon 9000 is a crippled 8500LE, with a 250Mhz DX8.1 core and 128bit 200Mhz (400effective) memory. Bandwidth 6.4Gb/sec. AGP 4X only. VIVO was an option on some like yours. Neither are a desirable card, when $99 will get you an new X800 Pro VIVO in PCIe (pricewatch) |

news:rlcki.29820$xk5.25240@edtnps82... Neither are a desirable card, when $99 will get you an new X800 Pro VIVO in PCIe (pricewatch) thanks a lot for your reply i've a mb that support dual pentim 3 CPU (both at 1ghz) and have pci-e slot available for video card so i've to choose if i'll keep this mb and buy a pci-e video card or change the mb (pratically for free) with another server mb (dual p3 again) that have an agp 4x slot in this last case i'll use the ati radeon 9000 vivo 'cause i've it on my hands the final target is a server so i don't need a gaming video card i know x800 series is good but a bit expansive... i'd like to use a video card from previous generation to save a bit no preference for ati or nvidia but i've read tha at entry-level ati is better in last months (radeon x300 is better than geforce 6200 tc) thanks a lot -ice- |

Well good luck trying to put a PCI-Express video card into what can only be a PCI-X slot. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI-X |
