Athlon XP3000+ overclock advice?
I have an Abit NF7-S2 (socket A) motherboard, whose BIOS supports
FSB tweaking in 1MHz increments, but doesn't provide a way to change the CPU multiplier. I would quite like to take a second-hand AXDA3000DKV4D chip and tweak it to run at 13.5x166 = 2250MHz (it's been my experience that Barton CPUs are noticeably less stable at 2300MHz than at 2250MHz). Once I've comprehensively tested its stability at 13.0x173 MHz, I plan to take a very sharp scalpel and cut bridge 0 of L3 (as suggested by http://fab51.com/cpu/barton/athlon-e23.html ) Assuming I don't make a mess of this procedure, can I expect that: * if the CPU is unlocked or locked, the multiplier will be changed? * if the CPU is super-locked, the multiplier will remain unchanged, but the CPU won't display any signs of damage in operation? |
