Default pdf files very slow on Xerox N4025PS

Using a Xerox Docuprint N4025PS with 192MB Ram , Win2K printstation with AMD
Athlon XP1800 512 MB Ram.
PDF files are taking an age to print out sometimes and occasionally fail. The
printer is linked via TCP/IP lan connection to a Lan switching hub.The
printer is only being asked to print from 1 machine .Sometimes a pdf file of
only 10MB can take 10 mins to spool and then waits 5 mins between pages
taking 15 mins to print just 14 pages!
Another example is a large file such as 50 pages file size 90mb. This takes
15 mins to spool and around 45 mins to print waiting for spooling to
continue between pages. Is there some setting available to speed this up ?
