Cartex - split personality
Like many others, I have had problems when ordering from Cartex. Once
I was told that the ink remailers went to a different company, i.e. Eurojet. Imagine my surprise when I found that Eurojet's contact address was the same as Cartex's. Not only that but e-inkjet also have the same address. Do they think we're stupid - they've got to be the same company. It does make you wonder why they've got different names. Is it to try and hide who they really are and so they can blame "a different company" for the non-delivery of goods? |

I just ordered ink from a company with many different named web sites and am yet to see my refill kit (ordered friday). If I don't get good service I won't buy again which is unfortunate for that company for being s***e as I only ordered a black one and soon I'll want a colour one then lots of refill ink when I need more ink and the place I ordered from seems to have decent prices.. |

"Mike Simpson" wrote in message ... They probably are different companies, even though they have the same address and similar/identical directors. It is perfectly legal -- my wife and I run two separate companies that operate in very different business areas. The trouble is that in unscrupulous hands running two or more companies from the same address and doing almost the same thing is also a way to create a perfect smokescreen about just who customers are dealing with. It means, for eg, that one company can go bust, leaving customers with big losses. while the other company carries on regardless. Not that I'm suggesting these people are unscrupulous of course! Possibly also a method of Tax evasion? |

Tax evasion
Here's an off topic goody 1. Get company to apply for planning permission to build a sports stadium. 2. Pay £500,000 plus, in investigation, etc for it. 3. Scrap the idea and claim as a tax loss 4. 4 years later apply for planning permission for a football stadium (wait a second that's a sports stadium without a running track). Planning permission already granted. 5. Save £500,000, plus original £500,00 clawed back, tidy £1,000,000 David |

Possibly also a method of Tax evasion? Absolutely. If nothing else, a number of small companies can keep below the VAT threshold. Which doesn't evade tax, just avoid the complexities of having to deal with VAT returns. -- iv Paul iv [ Mail: ] [ WWW: http://www.hopwood.org.uk/ ] |

"Paul Hopwood" wrote in message ... Which doesn't evade tax, just avoid the complexities of having to deal with VAT returns. Depends on how you see it. If they appropriately claimed they were one company and run under one name they would have VAT to sort. I've seen quite a few companies with different sites and names but same phone number and address etc so I guess it happens quite a bit... |
