Default Athlon XP 2500 on ASUS A7S333 - Plz Help

I have an athlon xp 2500 barton, made in week 42, and am trying to run it on an asus A7S333 motherboard. Apparently, this motherboard does not support athlon 2500, but it does support the 2400 and 2600?!

I have 400mhz ram. Other than that?!

If anyone can help me figure out how to get this thing running at top speed, or at least at a faster than 1700 which is what it is at right now, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks

How is the BIOS setup? Look in it and set it to autodetect, shutdown, clear
CMOS, and reboot.
All the directions for this should be in your motherboard manual or get it
online at Asustek (I think).

First please use word wrap as this really ****es me off!

If your motherboard supports 333fsb then theoretically it will support a
barton 2500+ if it supports 400fsb then it should support all the way to a
3200+.

Your board officially supports Thorton and Tbred processors (133 true FSB).
If your board's 166FSB capable, it should have no problem with any Barton ,
since the Thorton is simply a Barton with 1/2 the cache disabled and the FSB
backed off to 133.

Well, you need a 166Mhz FSB, so if you're in jumper free mode, check the
bios cpu frequency for a 166/33 setting. If it doesn't have one, then you
might find one in jumper mode. There's no jumper mode shown for 166 in
the manual, but it may still be one of the undocumented settings. They
only show 5 of 16 possible settings. Hopefully one of the others will be
166/166. If there's no way to raise the FSB, you're SOL. Might try
searching for a cheapoman bios for this board. It should have it.
