Hiya. I'm crossing over to XP from Win98. Any recommendations for GF4
drivers and some links? Any weirdo things like previous driver fixes,
removers required?

I went from 98se to xp home. I stuck with the 30.82's as theyve been rock
solid. I also went to direct x 9, BIG mistake!!! games kept crashing to
desktop after a few mins, went back to 8.1 and all is still well.

get the nvrefresh tool if you want refresh rates over 60.

get updated chipset drivers too

Is the right answer.

Short, to the point, and very accurate. n1 Derek.

I do not recommend an upgrade but rather a fresh install of XP. Use the
files and settings wizard directly from the XP cd-rom and save your settings
to another partition other than the system partition or to a cd-r if space
permits. Then do a clean install and once installed use the files and
settings wizard to get most of your settings back. The files and settings
wizard isn't a 100% sure thing so back up your most important files prior to
a fresh install.

regards

B

Ive seen the 41.09 perform well in xp compared to win98se version.
Faster then 30.82 which are indeed very stable.
If your desktop fonts look good with them you can try 44.03 also pretty
fast.
Any version higher is actually for FX cards so a wild goose chase.
Steer clear from the in between versions, too many bugs ....................

i ran 44.03 drivers since it's release on my o/c'ed gf4 ti4200 - rock solid
and fast.

upgraded to the 45.33 (?? - latest drivers) and all is good so far -
installed for 3days. not quiet as fast as the 44.03's though

Not very helpful though.

One pitfall is that if you go past 40.72, and you have a TV card, you
will struggle to watch some protected DVDs. This wasn't a bug, Nvidia
just introduced it as a feature.

Regards

Martin
