A7V600 SATA RAID cache problem

Hi!

I am currently using an A7V600 and have recently installed the Windows
XP on two new SATA drives. While that worked fine, I have the problem
that it looks like the write cache is not properly flushed when I shut
down the machine.
I regularly get a disk check on boot up or applications which do not
remember the settings I entered last, even though the machine is
properly shut down.
I think I remember that there used to be a problem once with large
hard disks and Windows shutting down but I have installed SP1 and all
the latest patches, so I think that this may be a different problem.
I am using the
A7V600 with 1 GB of RAM and 2x Seatgate 160GB SATA hard disks on the
VIA RAID controller with the latest drivers installed.
Any ideas?

Perhaps you could post the question there, and see if anyone is
seeing the same thing ? (It would be nice if Via had an email
contact address, so you could be sure that they see it.)

Google and MS KB aren't being too helpful. It is hard to say
whether this is a Via problem or a Microsoft problem. WinXP
gives the appearance, for the most part, that the cache flushing
issues of previous OSes were fixed, but who knows ?

If you don't succeed in fixing it, you could always buy a
SATA PCI card of some sort.

I'd suggest upgrading the BIOS and the VIA RAID driver to match,
but because there aren't any release notes on the VIA end of
things, I can't even guess as to whether that would help or not.
