"Error Extracting Support Files" with ATI drivers...
Every time I try to install an ATI driver, I get an "Error Extracting
Support Files: The filename, directory name or volume syntax is incorrect" and it quits. Strangely enough, even with the error, the 4.3 catalysts still ended up as showing complete and so far, not issues with gamineg, etc. But the Omega Drivers do not install at all. I've heard this is an Installshield error possible, and tried to rebuild it by deleting the folder under Program Files/Common Files/Installshield, but that didn't help. I also cannot find Ikernel.exe running under tax manager, although once it gave me an error referring to Ikernel. Other programs install fine, but not video drivers. System is an Athlon 2400+, Powercolor Radeon 9600 Pro 256mb version, 512 mb Samsung pc2700, MSI KT4V mainboard, Soundblaster Live! 5.1 running Win XP with service pack 1. Anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance... turk |
