Default New Drivers 10-1 available today.

I downloaded the new package. A few changes in the drivers, nothing new in
CCC.

It was a waste of time for me. I run Windows 7 64 bit and a ATI HD 4870.

I never complain about new drivers There's a long list of bugfixes
in the readme, that's good enough for me to install it!

I noticed today that my color profiles for my monitors had reverted back to
the old color profiles, which give a yellow cast when using Windows Image
Viewer. I had to go back in, again, and change to a generic profile to get
a white background. This is a documented problem by the way. Thanks ATI.

I lose my Spyder Pro 3 generated profiles every time I do a CCC suite
upgrade anyway, so this is nothing new.

Didn't read the release notes, but I downloaded and installed 10.1 after
first trying Mass Effect 2 with the last drivers. The graphics were
terrible. Massive improvement with 10.1 drivers although AA is still not
available for ME2. Just as well I can run in HD (1920x1080)

There is a 10.1 Hotfix driver specifically aimed at ME2:

is a thread on it, so you can see if it applies to you.

Thanks rms but didn't need. As ME2 is based on UT3 engine, I just renamed
the ME 'exe' file to UT3.EXE and forced full AA and everything else maxed
out for my Radeon 5870. It simply looks gorgeous now and runs smooth as
silk.

Incidentally I think the hotfix is just for Crossfire.

Does AA stay on all the time for you? On my GTX285 system, renaming the main
executable to ut3.exe gets me AA for about one mission. A couple of load
screens later, AA is gone again.

hmmm, that's unfortunate. I have a ATI Radeon HD 5870 and no problems with
AA at all in ME2. Just changed over from Nvidia 8800GTX and glad I did as I
think Nvidia are currently losing the battle, what with higher power use and
being more noisy and ATI out-performing them. A marked difference to how
quiet my system is now.

Interesting observation, because the 8800GTX is not known to have a loud
reference cooler (at least when compared to the HD2900XT back then). What
temps are you getting under load with your HD5870? I keep my GTX285 fan at
65% and temps plateau in the 70C range under load.

After some experimentation I remembered ME1 had AA working reliably.
Renaming the ME2 executable to masseffect.exe, AA now works well.
