Compaq Presario 4560
I'm trying to trouble shoot a Compaq Presario 4560.
Symptoms are when the power switch on the rear of the machine is switched on the Green Power LED lights up immediately and the Green HDD activity light stays 'solid' green for about 15 seconds and that's all that happens. There is no video what so ever, I tried a known good monitor. I put a boot disk in the floppy drive and there is no apparent attempt by the system to try and read from the disk. I have no idea how to get into the BIOS setup, especially with no video at all. I have put the "Rescue" CD in the CD-ROM drive and there is no apparent attempt for the system to access it. I have removed the HDD and CD-ROM drive and tried to boot from the floppy with no success. The next thing I'll try is to put a video card in one of the PCI slots and see if I get any video from that. Any other suggestions before this thing hits the scrap heap, which is probably where is belongs! Thanks..... |
