Can't update BIOS on MSI K8N Neo2 in Compaq GX5050

I have a Compaq Presario GX5050 that has an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
motherboard in it. The system is a bit of a strange bird in that it
contains all recognizable components instead the usual nameless components
that are normally found in name brand PCs. This system has an MSI K8N Neo2
Platinum, an A64 3800+, Enermax power supply, Coolermaster Wavemaster
case, you get the idea. However HP put in their own BIOS rather then the
regular, MSI BIOS. The BIOS doesn't appear to be any different from the
BIOS in my other MSI board, a K8N Neo4 which I got from MonarchComputer,
except that it says HP in it's title. The other thing that's different is
that the board number is a 7025VER, whereas the board number for the Neo2
Platinum on the MSI site is the 7025-010.

I was thinking of upgrading the box to a dual core next month when AMD
does their big price drop but to do that I'd have to upgrade the BIOS
(which is a copyright 2003 BIOS). I attempted to do this using the latest
MSI BIOS for the 7025 but the flash utility wouldn't do it because the
BIOS lock string didn't match. I checked to see if HP had an updated BIOS
for this card but they don't so it's either the MSI BIOS or nothing. Is
there any way around this or is this system forever doomed to live with
the original BIOS?
