PC cant wakeup from suspend state
hi there,
can somebody please tell me how to use the sleep and wakeup features? i have got and amd64 3000+ with asus a8ne mobo and 256mb ddr400 ram. i have set the suspend mode in bios to only STR i.e. suspend to ram. when i press the sleep button on the keyboard, the computer goes into sleep moded (with the power indicator flashing) but the problem is that i cannot wake it up using the wakeup key. the keyboard just hangs there. no other key except power key operates. the power key merely turns the pc on, without any activity. i tried using wakeup key after power key but to no avail. can somebody tell me what is possibly wrong? TIA, shreyas |

Press the power button on the case, then immedaitely disable the keyboard
buttons as you'll hit them by accident someday (like me). Actually, you spelled and typed everything fine. The problem is that there
is either a jumper on the motherboard or setting in the BIOS that allows wake up/power ons from the keyboard. By default it is off. And it should be. Do you really want to run the chance of typing up something important and accidentally hit the Power button on the keyboard while trying to press Page Up? Do any of the other buttons on the keyboard wake it from standby? If not, and you are using windows XP, you might need to enable the "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" box on the "Power Management" tab in the device properties for the keyboard. If the other buttons work, but the wakeup button does not, maybe your keyboard requires some special drivers/utilities to enable that key (although normally any key press will wake the machine). Win XP understands many special keys automatically on my keyboard (e.g. sleep, volume, ff, play, etc) but others require the manufacturers software to work. Peter |

no. "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" box on the "Power Management" tab in the device properties for the keyboard i couldnt find option like this anywhere. neither in device manager keyb properties nor in control panel keyb properties. and regarding drivers, my keyboard is new but non-MM keyboard. so i dont think they r even available. it's umax keyb and didnt come with any drivers. |
