Default P4C800 Deluxe doesn't Post

I bought a P4C800 Deluxe, the problem is that when I power it up the system
doesn't POST.

What I have installed at the moment is:

- ATX Case with a 300W power suply unit
- P4C800 Deluxe
- P4 at 3GHZ 800 FSB
- DVD drive
- CDRW Drive
- 2 PC3200 512MB DIMMs in the 2 blue banks
- GeForce FX5700 Ultra

When I press the power button, it powers up everything in the box: CPU
cooler, CD/DVD Drives, even the little green led in the board lights up, but
the monitor doesn't turn on and there is no POST beep messages. I followed
every step in the manuals.

What can it be failing here?

Thanks,

Ricardo

Remember to plug in the 4-pin 12V ATX power connector into
the motherboard?

Have you tried with only one of the DIMMs installed? I had the exact
same behaviour with two 1GB DIMM. The card booted fine with one of
them installed, but with both at the same time it behaved exactly as
you describe.

Yup... done that, same behavior.

I've been reading some posts in support forums, I think the problem might be
the PSU... it's only 300W...

Make sure the connectors for power supply/reset and the corresponding LEDS
are hooked up correctly to the board.

Yup...Possibly the power supply...although a 300 should allow you to boot.
did you try a different video card?

If it still does not boot after changing cases or the PS - or the Video
card, look at the RAM.
If you invest in a 800FSB board, the worst thing you can do is use cheaper
generic RAM. If it is the 'no-name' variety, try to return it and upgrade
it to a brand name that ASUS supports - (Kingston, Crucial, OCZ, Corsair
etc..)
I've seen many RAM related problems caused by mis-matched, poor quality and
less expensive RAM.

found that the AGP slot with a long video card has to be finessed to clear
the memory lockdown tabs. I initially had the same problem and found that
the video card was not seated completely due to the above mentioned
interference.
