Abit IS7-E motherboard
I attempted to install a new mainboard and processor today (the above with a
P4 2.8GHz) and I am very concerned that the pc simply emits an alarm sound on starting up. Nothing else. I have checked and checked again and I am satisfied by all but one issue really - how do I check if my graphics card (Pine PV S03A, SiS 305) is operating at the correct voltage for the board I'm by no means certain that this is the porblem though. I think everything is connected up properly but any ideas or suggestions would be most welcome. |

Is the power supply up to the job ?
I had the same when I built my first machine, using a 250w power supply. You will need at least a 300w I would imagine. Maybe a 350w. Someone else may need to add more to this. OK - In that case I would remove everything attached to or installed in the
machine and then add it back one piece at a time. ie - Remove all drives including HD / Memory / any PCI cards / etc etc, but leave the graphics card. With a base machine you should at least get to the BIOS screen. You may possibly need memory to get this far though. The Mainboard obviously doesnt like something that is connected to it. Have you an old graphics card you can try if you feel yours is a bit suspect ? How old is the graphics card ? I posted as similar message on the Abit group yeaterday and I think I have
itentified the problem now as the graphics card - I need to upgrade it from a 2x to a 4x or 8x. thanks to all for the advice here though - it is much appreciated "Jonathan Bishop" wrote in message ...
