Depends on what you intend to do. For some applications it might be
overkill.

Its a DX-9 card. Works very well in that environment.

If you're downgrading to Vista, it will still work quite well in DX-10
but won't take advantages of some of those worthless DX-10 extensions.

If you're getting into some heavy gaming applications, there are a lot
of interwoven dependencies that make your question difficult to answer.

it is a good general all around card.

I used the AGP version of the 7600GS in 2006 and was quite impressed
with the power/price ratio. The power hasn't changed, but the price must
be even cheaper now.
