a Canon can do anything an Epson can do...
It is obvious this person does not know what they are talking
about even though I like Canon better. In the US Canon cannot
print directly on CD/DVD.

I know exactly what I am talking about... What the hell are you
talking about measkite? ... of course a Canon can print
directly on CD/DVD ... where do you get your dumbass info from?

Stryker

Yes, of course it can. I bought my adapter kit for my Canon
iP5000 and
iP4000 to print on CD/DVDs on eBay from a seller in Buffalo, NY.
Last I
checked that was in the US. Anyone with a Canon "can" print on
CD/DVDs
if they want it to.

You are twisting the facts. You modified a product produced by
Canon.

NO, I did not modify it, Canon MODIFIED IT! I bought an adapter
kit (actually OEM missing parts) and put it back THE WAY IT WAS
DESIGNED BY
CANON TO OPERATE - AS A CD/DVD CAPABLE PRINTER! Just because
Canon removes a bunch of parts from US models does not mean we
must leave it

Canon designed the US model not to have that capability.

There is no such thing as "Canon designed the US model". It's merely a
stripped down world model. The missing parts can be bought on the open
market, in the US, in order to bring them back the way the printers
were
originally designed to be sold.

Look at their
website and ask their USA tech support.
that way. Not all of us are mindless jerks kissing corporate bums.
Those of us fortunate to have a brain can put the printer back the
way
CANON DESIGNED IT. Stop jerking the truth!!!! YOU yourself have a
MODIFIED printer that's MISSING PARTS.

Said like a stupid kid which is what you are on both counts.

Jealousy will get you nowhere. This "stupid kid" has the complete Canon
iP4000, iP5000, and the iP4500 CD/DVD enabled printers - the way Canon
designed them. You, on the other hand (I don't name call, I'm not a
troll) have a MODIFIED - yes, modified Canon iP4000 printer, one with
with parts missing. Anyone who buys the missing parts then has the
complete Canon printer.

That is not what Canon Tech Support or their website says.

If you take parts out, it's a modified Canon printer and not as
originally designed by Canon. This inarguable truth cannot be argued.

I think that you have had parts taken out

Canon knows more about Canon than you do.

You really can't be that naive, can you? Measekite, I have some
startling news for you. Sometimes, corporations lie

When they say in writing that the printer does not support cd printing
they are lying. Well they can get sued for that. Maybe that is what
you should do.
when it suits their purposes. Even your beloved Canon could be doing
this.

Canon disabled

meaning devoid of the capability
the CD/DVD printing capability on US printers to avoid US lawsuits
over them enabling piracy. They didn't go to all the trouble of
designing a separate printer for the US, they just left off some
parts. If you buy these parts from a third party, Canon can't be held
liable for what you do with them.

They're just saving their own butts. Everybody but you seems to
realize this.

No, our Canadian Canon iP4500 is not modified, it comes complete - all
parts included for CD/DVD printing! ;-) Same list price as in the US
too!

Last I read this had nothing to do with piracy but more to do with Canon
not wishing to pay royalties for the CD/DVD printing rights or patent.
I'm not sure who owns the rights, but I have heard it's either Epson or
Philips, the inventor of the CD/DVD. Frankly, I don't care, it's now
strictly an American issue. Take it up with Canon Tech Support. Ask them
why you're denied your right to own a complete Canon printer like
everyone else in the world.
