Can enabling AGP Fast Write on a AGP card which does not support this feature damaged the AGP card ?
I have installed an Msi GeForce 4 MX 440 (4X) AGP card on a Msi combo
motherboard (VIA KM266 chipset). I had enabled the AGP Fast Write feature from the motherboard for 2-3 days even though this card didn't support AGP Fast Write. After enabling and disabling this feature, I find that there is some minor problem with the refresh rate. Is there any chance that my graphics card got damaged? Thanks |

Thanks All you where doing was turning on the motherboard support for fast writes. It will only be used if the card supports it and the card has it enabled as well. There are tools which will tell your this, one free one which comes to mind is PCIlist from www.entechtaiwan.com. |

i wouldn't even bother enabling fast writes not worth it, i have a board and
vid card that support it, having this enabled actually decreases my score in 3dmark2k3 :-/ go figure heh On 9 Oct 2003 12:41:57 -0700, (Andy Smith) wrote: :I have installed an Msi GeForce 4 MX 440 (4X) AGP card on a Msi combo :motherboard (VIA KM266 chipset). Thanks I thought all Nvidia Geforce cards supported fast writes. It shouldn't damage your card, it should just crash if it doesn't support it. |

The "RivaTuner" Tweak Utility tells me if I have Fast Writes enabled or not. The entry under AGP controls in Low-Level System Settings shows "off" (greyed). Obviously my hardware does not support it. andreas -- As far as we know, our computer has never had an undetected error. -- Weisert http://www.palantir.net/cgi-bin/file...av/foolprf.wav Heh.Heh -- Free Windows/PC help, http://www.geocities.com/sheppola/trouble.html It's a G not a J in gmx for email Free songs download, http://www.soundclick.com/bands/8/nomessiahsmusic.htm |
