You would merge the 24003 MB NTFS partition with the 4298 MB NTFS
partition?

There is no boot sector (first sector) for the 4298 MB NTFS partition,
so the merge was begun.

It is not a common damage type, so it may take some time to figure it
out.

You can do:

findpart findfile 1 9179 9727 fp-a.txt

and *mail* me the file fp-a.txt.

Do not write to the last 24003 MB partition.

In a case like this, it may be possible to recover all files correct.
Depending on the situation, also standard recovery programs may be
able to copy some files to another partition.

Also for doc, xls and jpg files, can be done in a partition with free
space:

finddoc 1 9179 9727

and

findjpg 1 9179 9727 maxkb 4000

for maximum image file size 4000 KB.

That method does not use the file system, so file names will not be
original, and files will only be correct if the were not fragmented.

Yep, it's all true.

out.

Well, I've recoverd some jpg files with findjpg and that was all I
could do. I've tried findfile but all I've got was corrupted files
(right file name, size but random content).
Maybe the rest of the data was recoverble but i've decided that the
jpeg's were the only thing i was after. So I resized the 24GB
partition to 28GB and ended the recovery proces. I was under time
pressure, so that was the solution.

Anyway thanks for reply and for a great software. Kudos.

"I've tried findfile but all I've got was corrupted files"
That seems to happen a lot these days.

Kudos.

For what.

It cannot be said often enough: PM is unreliable and complete
backups are non-optional. Sorry.
