Default Dimension 8300 - Single or dual channel memory

How much slower in reality (no game playing) would 1Gig single channel
memory be compared to the dual channel? It seems to be $200 less.
Just want to do some casual video editing

How noisy is the 8300? I maintain Optiplex's at work and they are nearly
silent.

you'd do better to buy it with the minimum dual channel, and then buy the
rest from crucial.com - probably wouldn't work out any more expensive.

There are no 'single-channel' Dim8300s, unless you physically move or remove
a DIMM.

Fair to say the noise would be little different than the Optiplex.
