Default Buying stuff from Dell: Price differences (USA-Canada) ?

This Dell monitor:

http://accessories.dell.com/sna/prod...sku=3 20-4335

is $800 on the Dell Canada web site, but according to this:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...9&sku=320-4335

it's been marked down on the US web site from $670 to $570.

$570 USD = $630 CDN

Any idea why Dell isin't showing a markdown on the CDN web site for
this item?

- Because Canada's population is smaller than California.
- Because Dell has to deal with shipping it across a border
- Because Dell believes that Canadian's don't deserve big monitors
- Because Michael Dell was once insulted by a Canadian at a bar in
Austin while he was in college
- Because no one likes the Canadian flag

- Because they don't have to.

Pick one. Pick them all. My guess is that they do not believe the sale
would make a measureable impact on their sales and could, in fact,
constrain supply in the US.

Dell has always favored the US with prices. Likely always will. The
logistics are just easier.

Now only $699 Cdn. on sale vs. $669 U.S. not on sale.

Hmmm. Does Dell read this news group?

vs. $669 U.S. not on sale.

This is obviously very recent. Dell was showing it as being marked
down from $669 to $569 on their US web site just a few days ago.

There are 2 other competing monitors:

BenQ FP241WZ
http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...419&CatId=2775
http://www.atic.ca/index.php?page=LongDesc&sku=36800

BenQ FP241W
http://www.anitec.ca/product/7582/

The "Z" version of the Benq monitor has some features that claim
better image quality for video playback.

Basically, the Benq's are now $50 more than the Dell 2407WFP.

Tiger Direct's prices are way out of whack.

A very detailed review of the Benq's:

Give it 3-4 days. Prices will change again. They always do with Dell.
They're different in Home than Small Business every day.

The backlight in all BenQ's tend to burn out very fast. If you can get 3 years out of one it's a
miracle.
