Precision 390 Workstation Intel RAID with SSD?

I have a Precision 390 workstation using the Intel RAID for the SATA boot
device. Is it safe to use the Intel software RAID with SSD drives? I
have Windows XP installed.

If the RAID is constantly doing background testing and writing to the drive,
I assume that could create problems for an SSD, which has a limited number
of writes available to it.

I'm concerned about higher risk of data loss on an SSD if I don't use some
kind of RAID.
