GA-K8NXP-SLi problem

Just want to pick some brains he

My PC built up using the gigabyte ga-k8nxp-sli has stopped working.
Power is getting to the m/board as it starts up but it doesnt produce any
graphical output ie it doesnt get to POST.

Ive changed my graphics cards over, had the psu checked over, pulled the ram
out and re-inserted them, swapped hard drives over etc none of these make
any difference.

does anyone have any ideas what the problemis likely to be?

It is quite difficult to check a PSU over, unless you are an
electro-specialist. The easiest is to try with another suitable PSU.
SLI requires quite many watt: 500-600 at least.

I hope you had the PSU disconnected from power source before you
pulled the ram out. If not, there is voltage on the ram (due to atx
standby facilities) and the motherboard is ruined.

Check the electrolyte capacitors of the MB to se if any are leaky.

If every hope is out: it is possible to buy on ebay a similar MB.

Thanks for the extra pointers John.

I'm going to take the RAM over to pc world and see if the guys there will
test it for me, after all they did test my PSU for me.

I agree, I'll probably pull the board out and have a good look over it.
One annoying thing that i've just noticed was on removal of my 8800GTS i
knocked one of the capacitors located at the rear of the card. well the
bloody thing now has a snapped connection. Another delicate job to add to
my list!

Interestingly I have always had a weird RAM problem with my MB. On
booting up i'd get a series of annoy beeps which the MB user manual
suggested was some RAM issue or other.

The PSU i'm currently using is my back up, my primary psu died in
december,it was a thermaltake butterfly unit. Anyhow I'm using the crappy
PSU which came supplied with the case.
