dual BIOS - what is it good for?
I have a GA-M750SLI-DS4 with booting problems. When switched on, you just see the hard drive light blinking, no beeps, no display. The sort of thing you might get if you flashed BIOS with wrong code. If I short the clear-CMOS jumpers (with the power [hard] off), then it will boot, once only. I turn it off, then it plays possum again on next boot. I replaced battery, and the one I took out it was fine. I am using onboard VGA and have no PCI cards. So it seems I have some sort of corruption that the dual BIOS feature does not cure. |

Sounds like whatever problem you have, it's not with a bad flash, which is likely all that your dual-BIOS implementation can help. It's possible that the BIOS data area isn't stored redundantly (and it doesn't need to be, since the jumper bypasses configuration related problems in this area) and is physically damaged, or it's possible that you have an unrelated problem entirely. -- It's always darkest before dawn. So if you're going to steal your neighbor's newspaper, that's the time to do it. |
