Default Question about USB

My new phone has a USB-C female socket. And the charger cable that comes
with it has a matching USB-C male plug.

If I want to use a different charger/cable -- like the one in my car --,
I need some kind of adapter. That cable has a USB-micro (?) plug. (Is
that what it's called?)

So I need a cable or adapter that is USB-micro socket and USB-C plug, right?

(Pardon me for asking such a stupid question but I'm 82 y. o. and am
feeling every minute of it! I know that there are people my age who are
as sharp as tacks, but ...)

Thanks.

You should find a proper adapter at any Office Depot, Best Buy or
similar store. Amazon has many listed.

http://www.belkin.com/us/Resource-Ce...#what_is-usb-c

"The Belkin USB-C Cable collection has the perfect cable or
adapter to bridge the gap between USB-C and existing USB devices.

The cables listed below are available to buy now:

3.1 USB-C to Micro-B Cable --- ???
3.1 USB-C to USB-C Cable
3.1 USB-A to USB-C Cable

3.0 USB-C to USB-A Adapter

2.0 USB-C to Micro USB Charge Cable --- ???
2.0 USB-A to USB-C Charge Cable
2.0 USB-C to Mini-B Charge Cable
2.0 USB-C to USB-B Printer Cable
"

The very first one doesn't look right ?

Maybe it looks like this ?

So what the introduction of a new "standard" has done, is
create a whole new set of adapter cables. Leaving the
consumer to guess which one they need.

Are both of the cables in those examples, intended
for fast charging ? One cable is rated USB2, so who
really knows. Read the description on each web page,
to see if it's made clear there.

If you're persistent and patient, and are willing to read
this long long article, the answer might be in here.

Now you know why Paul doesn't buy stuff with C connectors
on it :-) I hate unnecessary research projects. And
guessing at stuff. It's not like a user is going to be
lucky enough to have Type C on everything, and only
"vanilla" cables needed.

And the existence of non-compliant cables for sale
initially (the ones the Google engineer discovered),
did nothing to make for a smooth product launch.
The individual at Google, had his laptop damaged
while evaluating various cabling products. Initially
he was testing cables and finding bad stuff, but
eventually one of the cables he tested, did some
damage due to the way it was designed.

"Amazon also isn't volunteering to take on cable testing
itself, so the number of eyeballs looking at any given
solution are going to be limited."
