Default Is my GEF3 card knackered?

I recently had the cooling fan on my Epox m/board fail, resulting in
the purchase of a new motherboard- a Soltek SL-KT400-C. To be on the
safe side I did a re-install of XP Pro. It took 3 attempts to get my
GEF3 card up and running. Initially it simply refused to boot, then
eventually it did and I installed Nvidia Ref Drivers 44.03 and the
latest Via drivers. That was 2 weeks ago and I've had no problems
until today. Now I have small thin white horizontal lines going across
my desktop. They are also present on the black XP start-up screen, and
on the POST screen. I have just downloaded and installed the new
Nvidia 45.23 drivers. Machine gets to desktop and then re-boots. It
also takes in excess of 3 mins to actually get to the desktop. I've
had to boot in safe mode and do a driver rollback to restore
stability.
My thought is that the card is simply knackered- either due to age or
to damage caused by heat build up when the chipset cooler failed.
Before I dump the card and dig into my credit card, is there anything
else I could look at?
My specs:
Athlon 1900
Soltek SL-KT400-C
Hercules GEF3 ti500
Audigy 1
1024mb Samsung DDR RAM
XP Pro. with SP1 installed.

Thanks

John

Check how secure the AGP card is in the slot. Some are a real bugger
to,"Click" into place and get secure/square in the slot on some mother
boards and when removed clean the edge connectors with some clear
alcohol or Electrical Switch cleaner.

I would suggest a pencil eraser, instead, for the cleaning. Mainly,
because, it's most likely already on-hand.
