Sony Vaio PCV-RX450 Power supply
A friend of mine has a Vaio and his power supply has gone bad. He found
the power supply himself but it was going to be like $80 and they are all backordered. I suggested that any power supply should work but since its a vaio I'm not so sure after all. I don't much about Vaio computers so basically all I'm wondering is if it uses a standard ATX power supply or something special? Thanks, Karl Spencer |

Be careful buying one: Sony tends to use non-standard proprietary parts in
their electronics. -- DaveW "Karl Spencer" ghthere.com wrote in message . 199.17... A friend of mine has a Vaio and his power supply has gone bad. Thanks, Karl Spencer Have him take out the power supply and measure it. Standard PS/2 ATX Dimension (WxHxL): 150x86x140mm/5.9”x3.4”x5.5” Reduced-size, mATX & others: http://www.sparklepower.com/proPCPS_Micro.html Then check the wiring color and ATX connector to motherboard, should look quite similar to this: http://69.36.189.159/usr_1034/atx_on.gif Preferribly there should also be voltage meter readings but with the original being "bad", it may not be possible. The unit may provide some or all of this detail on the label. If you determine the specific Vaio model you may find whether it's standard via http://groups.google.com/ If all else fails, a good angled picture showing 3 sides of the unit and motherboard power connector (linked, posted to a server, not the newsgroup) may help. |
