Mainboard Boot Error with new PCI card (TX97X)
Hi,
I have an ASUS TX97X, PII 233, 128 MB RAM and I want to install a PCI WLAN-Adapter (SMC2802). When I put the card into a PCI-Slot the system won´t boot correctly - sometimes I only get a black screen, sometimes I get into the BIOS and sometimes I get a "CMOS checksum error". As soon as I remove the card everything works fine again. The card seems to be okay (runs fine in another PC) The BIOS is up to date. When I use another card (same model) I get the same error I tried the following: - removed all other cards except Elsa Erazor II PCI - changed the PCI slots for both graphics and WLAN adapter - set the IRQs manually in BIOS Has anyone an idea what else I coud try (BIOS settings, etc)? Thanks in advance, Hinrich |

The wireless lan card requires a motherboard that complies with the PCI 2.1
spec which the TX97X does not. I had the same problem with my son's Abit BE6-II. You'll have to use a USB wireless network adapter (if the TX97X has USB). Otherwise i'd suggest it's time for an upgrade :-) Shrink "Hinrich Specht" wrote in message ... Hi, I have an ASUS TX97X, PII 233, 128 MB RAM and I want to install a PCI WLAN-Adapter (SMC2802).
