CPU overheat warning...
Just got a new heat sink and fan (Arctic Cool). After I installed it and
turned on the machine I got the Bee-boop (CPU overheating alarm). Needless to say, I immediately shut off the machine, checked the fan (it was running) and the CPU (it was cold to touch). Very weird! I then reapplied the thermal paste, and reinstalled the heat sink/fan assembly (thinking, perhaps, I had not applied the paste properly). Turned on the machine, same result. The only way to stop it is to turn it off in BIOS. Running Motherboard Monitor software, it says the CPU is cooking away at 18° C right now (not so hot) but, if I turn it back on in the BIOS, I will get the warning again. Any ideas??? Or is turning off the warning in BIOS my only solution? Specs: KV8 PRO m/b AMD 64/3000 CPU |

Everything else was operating perfectly. I had to unplug the pc speaker to stop it. I exchanged the board and the new one works perfect. GC |

Had the same problem. The board is sensing zero RPM's from your cooler fan.
Be sure you have the 3rd wire (yellow) hooked up correctly. "chuckie®" wrote in message m... Just got a new heat sink and fan (Arctic Cool).
