The entire landscape is now strip malls, department stores, drive thrus, liquor racks, convenience stores, outlet malls and concrete, plastic, metal, concrete, concrete, concrete. Obviously you've never driven the coast highway from SF to Portland, Oregon. Or anywhere in Oregon or Washington state. Or across the desert from Wendover Nevada to Salt Lake City. Or flown across Alaska. Get away from those cities, bro....It'll open up your eyes...... |

I was driving through there one time, and the highway exit signs were mind-boggling. Things like coming up to a diamond interchange, and the signs say - Alphatown 18 miles Betaville 23 miles - Next Exit 84 miles Cheers! Rich |

Or flown across Alaska. Get away from those cities, bro....It'll open up your eyes...... Do it fast, that scene is fast disappearing even in OR, WA, MT, ID and all those places you thought you knew. Case in point: "Marysville/Smokey Point/Arlington WA" (about 30 miles north of Seattle) This used to be a mix of "real rural-as in farms" and a few older "subdivisions" for those who did work in Seattle and willing to "pay the commute" to be more-or-less out in the sticks. That disappeared over the last 5 years, now it may as well be "strip-mall/Costco/WallyWorld/HomeDespot" just like the Ft. Lauderdale FLA area was 20 years ago. If you didn't see the type of store you wanted (or missed it), just drive another 5-20 miles and you see it again. -- "**** this is it, all the pieces do fit. We're like that crazy old man jumping out of the alleyway with a baseball bat, saying, "Remember me mother****er?" Jim “Dandy” Mangrum |
