There have been so many driver revisions that they seem to fix some
bugs, unfix one or two, and sometimes add a new one! The last detection
problem I had involved laptop drivers. The only really odd problems with
new drivers and my ATI cards involves switching from DVI to HDMI, audio,
and display size not filling a LCD screen at native resolution.
The cure was to use the reset function in CCC.

Yeah, I noticed that with a lot of softwares and hardwares. Ugh! At
least the latest driver seems to have fixed my blue screen of death
(BSoD) problem with DVB Viewer Pro after playing games or running 3D
screen saver. That was annoying. I had to downgrade some files with
older driver files.

I wonder if ATI allows TV+DVI to work only by design.

No Idea! But, I wonder if some sort of support for the darn HD copy
protection scheme is starting to cause oddities in the drivers.

Maybe. I know NVIDIA yanked that fullscreen video overlay to TVs from
their cards and drivers. Hence, why I switched to ATI Radeon 4870 a
couple years ago. I think ATI/AMD is starting to copy NVIDIA.
