OK, my monitor's dying on me. I'd like to know what LCD screen is
compatible with my ti4600. I want a SVGA, not XVGA screen, mostly for
games and photo retouching.

17 or 19", around €200. Thanks.

Any with an SVGA socket.

But does the ti4600 support the weird resolutions of the LCD screens
(like 1280x1024 - the control panel only shows 1280x960) ?

Every standard monitor that has either VGA or DVI SingleLink (this
excludes basically monitors from 30" and higher).

SVGA means 800x600 resolution. There is no "XVGA". If you mean XGA, it's
1024x768. SVGA is basically unsuitable for almost everything today, and
XGA is already the lowest useful minimum.

17 or 19", around €200. Thanks.

There are no 17" or 19" displays with only 1024x768 or 800x600. The
first resolution is usually found in 15" TFTs, the latter one is
basically dead.

The thing you connect a monitor to is no socket but a connector. And its
not SVGA (which is a VESA standard for a certain reslution) but VGA or
DVI (which is better for flat panel displays like TFTs).

1280x1024 is not weird but one of the most common standard resolutions.
Your gfx card does up to 1920x1200 over DVI and probably even more over
VGA. It works with standard and widescreen displays. The resolutions
that are available in the driver settings depend on the ability of the
monitor that is connected to the card.

Well, my monitor seems to work fine again. It must have been a problem
with the electromagnets caused by the heat. I've used it for several
hours now and the image is stable again. Touching wood. :-)
