PCI express x16 drivers?

i am planning on getting a board for the next amd 64 system i plan on having
for myself

i know nothing of PCI express, if i was to get a pci express gfx card, would
the computer require any drivers to be installed before attempting to
install windows XP?

for instance normally the hardware configures itself or windows configures
it you know, would i need to tap f6 and install drivers when i first try to
install windows? obviously i will need this for my SATA hard drive but how
about the pci-express, does windows sort it out or does it just sort its
self out?

like normally i just plug the agp card in and i assume it uses generic
windows drivers to work the device, but since pci-express is new there probs
wont be any generic drivers for the device to operate until i can install
drivers from nvidia website...

can anyone put me straight?
