Default IC7-G Serillel problem

Having a problem with xp crashing when using the SATA adaptor on an ATA100
IDE drive. Shortly after getting the desktop I get a blue screen with error
message that ntfs.sys tried to write to read-only memory. I dont have any
SATA drives yet, but until then I wanted to use my WD120 on the on-chip sata
and my optical drives on the IDE channels. The drive is detecting as
channel 3 master and the enabled sata is set to auto or enhanced mode. The
drive is jumpered as master and the adaptor is plugged into sata 1. Any
help appreciated. BTW, the system works fine with the ide drive used on an
ide channel.

I have tried to use that adapter (supplied with the it7 max2 ver 2) on both
an IT-7 max 2 ver2 and an IC-7 G. On the 1st board the computer would never
even boot. I can't remembe r the error now. On the IC-7 it just would not
recognize the hd no matter what the setting. The hard drive worked on a
regular IDE cable. I ended up buying SATA drives and problem solved in both
cases.
