a7v266-e capacitor
"Hasj Pee" wrote in message ... Hello! I have had several capacitors broken on my a7v266-e motherboard (bad smell, leaking). Now I wanted to order some new ones and install them myself. Where can I do this (preferably in Europe, Belgium)? Thanks! Hasj Pee There is a guy in the UK (from Scotland I think) who goes by the name of BigBadger and sometimes frequents this group and the Abit group who I believe specialises in supplying capacitors for popular motherboards in kit form. I don't know whether is still valid or not, but it might be worth a try Certainly there is another guy based in the US who has supplied me with a kit of capacitors for an old Abit board I needed to repair for a friend a while ago. His handle within the Abit group and sometimes on this NG too is Homie.aka Capman or real name: Gary Headlee His web site will give you the relevant info and prices. http://motherboardrepair.com/ He was very quick too - less than 5 day turn around from the US to the UK. He certainly knows his stuff and is very helpful. You get the capacitors for the whole board, instructions, solder and solder removal tape in the kit. A whole board takes 3 - 4 hours the first time you do it and a bit less once you get used to it. Once the caps start going bad, you should really replace the others on the board too as it's usually only a matter of time before they die too. It cost me about £25 GBP for a kit including carriage, which is bordering on whether it makes economical sense and the advantage is that someone else has sourced all the right parts for you, but hey... if you like the board you have enough, then why not? Regards Nick |
