New Gateway DX430X
Well I received it and it took a few days before I set it up as we had
been on a trip and had to get things in order before setting it up or the wife would have killed me! (grin) So far it has been a pleasant experience. I noticed that you could move the files from XP to Vista but am unsure what that means. Don't want to make any errors because of my understanding. Does that mean I can move "all" files from one to the other? Does it just scan the old HD and pick up all files including programs and move them to the new computer? Or do you have to add the old programs to the new computer and then move the files that pertain to that specific program etc. I use Mozilla would it move the entire program and files? This is an example of my confusion. L e e |

I'm not quite sure since I don't have Vista yet. But in general you cannot
move Windows-based programs/application software by just copying them. They have to be re-installed in order to update program specific registry settings, etc. The file move probably related to data files that you create like word processing documents, photographs, etc. Steve "Lee" wrote in message ...
